End of Summer Bucket List

In April, Insurify, an insurance comparison company that rates cities based on driving practices, amenities for eco-friendly green vehicles, air quality and renewable electricity programs, recognized Eden Prairie as the “greenest” city in Minnesota. It’s a community rich in history with plenty of outdoor spaces for social distancing activities and a few indoor spots worth checking out too.

Here are just a few items to check off your summer bucket list before heading back to school and settling into fall.

Round Lake Park

16691 Flying Cloud Drive, Eden Prairie

www.edenprairie.org

Open 10am – 8pm

Since opening in 2012, the Round Lake Splash Pad has become a popular hang-out for the under 5 set. And while toddlers stay cool under the splash pad’s many sprinklers, older kids can enjoy the nearby beach. And kids of all ages will enjoy the sprawling playground well into the fall. Families can also explore the park via the vast network of biking and hiking trails before enjoying a picnic at one of the park’s many picnic areas. Athletes of all stripes will appreciate the baseball and softball fields, skate park, sand volleyball court, tennis courts, and ice hockey rink.

Miller Park Barrier-Free Playground

8208 Eden Prairie Road, Eden Prairie

www.edenprairie.org

Open 10am – 8pm

Mike and Jenny Garvin wanted a place where their daughter, Ashley, who has Cerebral Palsey, could play alongside her friends. Thanks to a generous donation from the Garvins and their friends and family, the City of Eden Prairie was able to build a barrier-free playground at Miller Park. This playground has accessible pathways and surface structures and allows non-mobile children and adults to reach all levels of the play structures. And there’s also a splash pad for those hot days.

Richard T. Anderson Conservation Area

18700 Flying Cloud Drive, Eden Prairie

952-949-8333

www.edenprairie.org

Open 6am – 10pm

Located along the Minnesota River, the Richard T. Anderson Conservation Area provides picnic areas, biking and walking trails, an overlook, interpretive signage and trail maps throughout the park. Hiking or biking this 2.2-mile loop is an outdoor activity the whole family can enjoy. Leashed dogs are welcome to enjoy the park too.

Wings of the North Museum

In Flying Cloud Airport

10100 Flying Cloud Drive, Eden Prairie

952-746-6100

www.wotn.org

Open 11am – 3pm Saturdays and Sundays, masks required during COVID-19

Cost: $10 per adult, $5 per child – free admission for one child with every paid adult ticket.

For rainy days or days that are just too hot to spend a lot of time outside, look no further than the Wings of the North Museum. Wings of the North Museum features restored military aircraft and a replica of the Spirit of Saint Louis, the plane that Charles Lindbergh piloted on his first-ever trans-Atlantic flight from Long Island, NY to Paris, France. According to Trip Advisor, the Wings of the North Museum is one Eden Prairie destination you don’t want to miss.

The Lions Tap

16180 Flying Cloud Drive, Eden Prairie

952-934-5299

www.lionstap.com

Currently, open 11am – 7pm for takeout only.

Finish your day of exploration by picking up some world-famous burgers from the Lions Tap. With a history almost as old and equally as rich as the history of Eden Prairie itself, the Lions Tap remains famous for having one of the best burgers in town.
